Emergency Management’s first PC-based software interface for FEMA’s IPAWS network.
Author and distribute CAP messages in E.P.I.C. and distribute information over FEMA’s IPAWS network.
One-time cost – there are no annual subscriptions or purchase plans. You own the software itself, not just access to a website.
When combined with Storm Sentry, E.P.I.C. can also control your warning sirens and monitor thousands of weather information products from the National Weather Service.
In 2012, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) rolled out the IPAWS network, a revolutionary new communication channel for emergency management personnel across the country. What is IPAWS? To quote FEMA:
“During an emergency, alert and warning officials need to provide the public with life-saving information quickly. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) is a modernization and integration of the nation’s alert and warning infrastructure and will save time when time matters most, protecting life and property.
Federal, State, local, tribal and territorial alerting authorities can use IPAWS and integrate local systems that use Common Alerting Protocol standards with the IPAWS infrastructure. IPAWS provides public safety officials with an effective way to alert and warn the public about serious emergencies using the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio, and other public alerting systems from a single interface.”
Simply put, with IPAWS and one network interface, emergency managers can access a multitude of platforms, include smart phones, NOAA weather radios, digital road signs, news outlets, warning siren systems, and more.
